NAR Director Responsibilities

1. Participate in the NAR Mid Year Business and Legislative Meeting (May) and the Annual Convention (November).
During these meetings, attend the following when possible:

a) Member/Director Forum and follow-up VAR Caucus
b) Virginia NAR Director/Delegate Caucus (report on committees)
c) Region 3 Caucus
d) Board of Directors meeting
e) VAR Receptions
f) NAR Committee meetings (at least two)
g) NAR Installation
h) NAR Delegate Body meeting

2. Volunteer to serve on NAR Committees prior to each year of term.

3. Submit travel reimbursement requests (with receipts) within 30 days of the event.

4. Attend both VAR Conferences and attend the following when possible:

a) National Town Hall Forum
b) NAR Director Caucus
c) State Town Hall Forum
d) Local Association Forums
e) Installation Banquet- Convention
f) Legislative Reception-Legislative Conference
g) Day on the Hill-Legislative Conference

Note: Registration fees for both meetings have been waived for NAR Directors.

5. Remain current on nationwide issues and VAR positions on those issues.

6. Serve as part of VAR's "Outreach Team" by maintaining contact (providing information and gathering feedback) with key stakeholders, especially VAR Policy Board, Local Associations, key member firms, NAR leadership and staff, and leaders from other states. NAR Directors will be expected to report on national issues at meetings of Local Associations, when requested.

7. Assist VAR Leadership Team in identifying future NAR and VAR leaders from around the state and advise the Executive Vice President of those potential leaders.

8. Become familiar with NAR Bylaws, Strategic Plan, Annual Budget and other governing documents.
