John Dickinson
John
R. Dickinson has been a licensed real-estate agent since 1988,
currently as associate broker with Hall Associates, Inc., western
Virginia’s largest commercial real estate firm, holding the CCIM and
GRI designations. A real estate investor since 1991, he owns apartment
and industrial properties in the Roanoke, Virginia area. He is
president and owner, since 1991, of the Moseley-Dickinson Academy of
Real Estate, one of the state’s largest real estate education
companies.
Mr. Dickinson was graduated from the University of Virginia in
1980 with distinction, majoring in mathematics and economics. He is a
past director of the Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors, having
served as its president in 1998. At the state level, Mr. Dickinson
currently serves on the Policy Board of the Virginia Association of
Realtors, where he was recently elected state treasurer, and is past
chairman of the Virginia state RPAC trustees, who determine funding for
state-wide and national political candidates. Beginning in 2007, he
will serve on the Legal Action Committee of the National Association of
Realtors; he was recently elected a national director of NAR as well.
He has also served on the delegate body of that organization.
In addition, Mr. Dickinson has twice served as president of church
council at St. John Lutheran Church, and as president of the alumni
corporation of Chi Psi fraternity, on the board of which he has sat
since 1982.
When not involved in any of the above, he enjoys skiing, tennis, and
raising his children, Katie, 20, Anne 18, and Tyler 16. He resides in
Union Hall, Virginia with his wife Sonya, and their little dog Max.
