Below are descriptions of VAR's four Committees, as well as specific opportunities for service under the purview of each group.
If you wish to be considered for appointment to a Committee for the coming year, PLEASE INDICATE YOUR FIRST AND SECOND CHOICES ONLY, below.
In addition, under each Committee, mark any specific role for which you'd be willing to serve. You may mark a role under any Committee even if that Committee is not your first or second choice for appointment as a Committee member.

The Public Policy Committee oversees VAR's legislative efforts, including lobbying, grassroots, and regulatory actions. The Committee works on a regular basis with the Virginia Real Estate Board and the Real Estate Appraiser Board. The RPAC of Virginia provides you with the opportunity to fund legislative issues and support pro-REALTORŪ positions and pro-business candidates.

The Information Management Committee is responsible for Commonwealth magazine and other VAR communications; member research and surveys; member services (discount programs); marketing and event promotion; technology and the VAR websites; and new member outreach.
I am willing to be a spokesperson on REALTORŪ issues.
I would like to work with the member services and sponsorships program.

The Professional Development Committee is responsible for oversight of the Virginia REALTOR Institute (GRI) Program and GRI designation, the annual Legislative and Education Conference in February, and the Plugged In convention in the fall. The Committee also oversees the Broker/Manager Executive Conference, Leadership Development Workshop and Instructor Training workshops. This Committee also oversees the VAR member recognition program.
I have experience as an instructor and am willing to teach other REALTORSŪ.
I am willing to help develop REALTORŪ educational course material.
I am willing to assist in developing/planning VAR meetings.
I am interested in working with VAR member recognition programs.

Second Choice: Risk Management
The Risk Management Committee oversees VAR's professional standards curriculum and training, legal action and the VAR Legal Hotline, mediation and arbitration, and VAR's standard forms. VAR provides substantive training on Code of Ethics precepts and enforcement procedures, and trains hundreds of instructors each year to extend this education on to even more members.

Note: The work of most VAR Committees is accomplished via a mixture of in-person meetings and conference calls. Please indicate: When necessary, I am able to travel to Committee or working group meetings.
