How To Edit Your Virginia Living Network Page

Every Virginia REALTOR® has his or her own web page on the Virginia Living Network -- provided to members as a free service. Every office also has a company page.

To Find Your Page
Click here to access the"Find a REALTOR" page. Click on "Find a Virginia Realtor" or "Find a Firm" and the appropriate search page will appear. From here you can type in your name or company and click on the "Search" button to bring up a list of members or companies with that name (partial names will work -- but they must be as they appear in the membership records). When the next screen appears, simply click on your name or company ...and your page will come on the screen.

If Your Page Doesn't Exist on the Network
The addition or deletion of membership records can be done by your local association, which can update the National Realtor Database online. Data from that system is sent on a biweekly basis to the Virginia Living Network. We suggest you contact your local association immediately to have your record updated.

Editing Your Page
In the upper left area of each Living Network personal page is a "Personal Profile" link. Click there, and at the next screen enter the appropriate National REALTOR® Database System (or NRDS) ID password mentioned below, (the Realtor ID field will be filled in automatically by the Virginia Living Network) click the "Login" button and you will be given access to edit anything on your page except your name and the company's address information.

Your Password to Edit
The password to edit your personal page is your entire National REALTOR® Database System (or NRDS) ID number WITHOUT THE LEADING "0". [This remains your password; you CANNOT change it.] Example: If 089345459 is your NRDS number; use 89345459 as your password.

You can find your NRDS ID number on the label for your COMMONWEALTH magazine ...NOT the NAR magazine, REALTOR. If you cannot find a recent issue of the COMMONWEALTH magazine, you can request your Local Association staff to look up your NRDS ID number online for you in the National REALTOR® Database System (NRDS). [Most Local Association offices in Virginia have online access to this database of member records.] For the Company page, it is the Firm's NRDS ID number. To obtain this number, you can request your Local Association staff to look up the Firm's NRDS ID number online for you. The request must be made by the designated REALTOR® of the firm.

REMEMBER: You can find your password (NRDS number) on the label of this COMMONWEALTH magazine!

Once you've found your NRDS ID number, we strongly suggest you write it down and keep it some where for future use. It's yours' for life!

Have You Changed Names or Changed Companies?
Changes of names and company information must be made to records in the national NRDS database, by your local association so that membership records remain current. Data is then transferred to the Virginia Living Network from the national database, usually every two weeks, so that individual and company pages can be updated.

Adding One or More Links to Your Page
There is now an easy-to-use feature in the Maintenance Menu that allows you to add links to your page WITHOUT using any HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). All you do is click on "Edit Web Links" and type in the Web addresses of the pages to which you want to create links.

Getting a Picture on Your Page
To load a photo or logo to a personal or firm, choose 'Photo Upload' at the bottom of the list of buttons on the left. Click on the 'Browse' button to locate the photo or logo you wish to display on your page (you must have the image either on your computer or on a disk). When you locate the correct image, click on the name and then click on the 'open' button, click on 'upload file.'

If You Speak a Foreign Language
You can also add your foreign language capability to your web page. Simply click on "Edit Web Page Data" and select the languages that you speak from the drop-down list.

If You Have Buyers Searching for a Property
Just click on "Buyer Database" from the maintenance menu, click on the "New Buyer" button, and enter the criteria desired by your buyers.

Listing your Rental Properties
You can add your rental properties in Virginia to the website. Simply click on "Maintain Properties" on the menu, then follow the directions.

Once you're done, exit the website, and that's all there is to it! If these instructions do not answer your specific question(s), then please call the VAR office at (800) 755-8271, or email webmaster@varealtor.com.
